Children's Ministries

At First UMC we hold children to be our most precious resource. Your children will find an exciting place of fun, fellowship and learning in a safe environment. In addition to the special events listed below, we offer a variety of opportunites for learning and service. Please explore them all and we'll see you here soon!

Children's Sunday School

Our children enjoy a walk through biblical times and places as they journey through our exciting Education Area. We design 5-7 week journeys for the children as they learn and experience the love and lessons of Jesus in a variety of different settings. Each grade level class may find themselves in Cave Cinema Theater for a video presentation, or in our Coliseum for games, music or movement. They will spend a week in the Rock 'N' Scroll computer lab or the Looaves and Fishes Cafe for cooking and science. Noah's Art teaches the lesson trough various artistic disciplines and/or mission to others, while the Desert Drama  center gathers kids together under a bedouin tent for storytelling or puppets. Preschool Sunday School

Our children ages 3-5 years spend time in the Pre-chooler's Treehouse, enjoying lessons about God and Jesus that speak to them in a understandable and memorable way. Contact Jennifer Solt at  667-0876 ext 18 for more info.

Third Grade Bibles

Every November we present Bibles to all 3rd graders on Bible Sunday. The children are invited to join “Compass Points: Navigating the Bible” class prior to receiving the Bibles. Contact Jennifer Solt at  667-0876 ext 18 for more info.

Acolytes

Children in 3rd – 6th grades are trained to be worship leaders through assiting in the worship service. The acolyte serves by lighting and extinguishing the candles on the communion or altar table at the beginning and the end of the worship service. Contact Kitty Nutting, Acolyte Coordinator, 663-5217
