On Your First Visit

Getting to the church

First United Methodist is located at 533 North Grant Avenue, at the corner of 6th and Grant. The Traditional, Praise and Saturday Meditational Services are located in the Sanctuary; the NRG Service is located in the Holy Underground beneath Coy Hall. The main entrances are located on the south side of the building. All services are easily accessible through our new Lobby Court.

Where do I park?

On Sunday morning, you may want to park a half block north on Grant in the Truscott School parking lot and walk across the street, or park in our Main Parking lot on the south side of the building. There is also parking available along the surrounding streets.

How should I dress?

While some folks like to wear their "Sunday best," many wear casual and comfortable clothes on Sunday morning and Saturday night. During the summer months, we especially encourage everyone to dress appropriately casual.

Do I need to bring anything?

If you have a Bible, bring it with you to church. Then you'll be able to follow along the sermon outlines at either the Traditional Service or the Praise Service.

When should I get there?

Sunday services begin at 8:30, 9:45, and 11 a.m. Sunday school begins at 9:45 a.m. It's a good idea to get to First Church at least 10 to 15 minutes before your worship/Sunday School time to allow for parking.

What about my children?

First Church has excellent preschool and children's ministries. Greeters in the building will help you in getting your children to their class. Our nursery cares for babies from six weeks to three years old. Our children's ministry offers classes at 9:45 a.m. Junior high and high school students meet for Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. in the Youth Range below Coy Hall. Check our complete listing of classes
